Enough is Enough

Okay, I'm calling my own cease fire against Ming. I'm seeing things headed to a very ugly place there. It looks to me like there truly are people quitting Ming's website because of what is going on there.

My presence draws and incites the type of crowd that truly enjoys being disruptive and abusive, and Ming's mature readers and worthwhile readers will leave his blog because of these types of people. I mean, Ming's following there has always been on the immature side, but man... I just set these people off. They can't beat me intellectually, so they have to start acting like chimps and fling shit around everywhere.

Or maybe... they really are Scientologists...

WHAT'S YOUR CRIME, OOZO?
/flings shit across the room

Nope, they are chimps.

Anyway, as much as I dislike Ming I am not so mean-spirited where I would wish his business venture to fail. I just can't help but think that if the people who are going to back him were to see his blog replies that they would pull support. I mean, I would.

Please don't call me out on your blog again, Ming. I mean if you post crap up there that is false about me I will come and defend myself. But I hope to God you can see by now that my presence is not healthy for your blog. I am giving honest-to-God good advice here. Try to salvage your mature and worthwhile readers. Drama shitstorms draw in exactly the crowd you do not want to have to cater to. And for God's sake, do something about letting a person secure his identity on your blog.

I dunno if the posts here are actually read, i love the fact that undergeared players could beat high arena rated players, which proves that in some cases, skill > gear. Anyway i sorta respected Ming until he wrote those lines...
"And yes, WOW is serious business, you will see it in the coming months." So that cease fire stuff would be for the best, since u wont be insulting his "serious business".
Sorry bout the old post, deleted it by accident

I have a feeling the business Ming is thinking of will be a site other than his own. There was a link to a more professional, high-dollar gaming site that I have a feeling he'll be participating in.

I think it's already been proven that "pro" blogs rarely if ever get out of the ad click scheme. Ming hasn't even explored the options to getting his site and articles more exposure through means like Digg. Like, duh. Want to talk about someone making money off a website, Kevin Rose. Millions off what he's done with Digg and all that basically is about is reader rating.

I even suggested this to him in a blog comment a month or so ago when he first started talking about generating traffic. That and doing a podcast. I've checked out all of the WoW related podcasts on iTunes (which also get Digg ratings) and while I'm down to just listening to World of Warcast and The Instance, even here, they know nothing, really, about PvP and hardly ever cover anything interesting there. The PvP coverage was so bad on World of Warcraft Chronicles I finally un-subscribed because it drove me up the wall.

I'm really surprised how un-clever Ming really is in this regard and, basically, it's like he's waiting around for something to be handed down to him from the heavens rather than carve himself out an exclusive market. When I see that sort of weaksauce I can't help but want that person to fail. But that would be bad karma I guess.

Anyway, I liked the underdog aspect of skill > gear. I still wish I had your shoulders and mace but, going back, that's how Happyminti got started and I remember Unsouled always showed up on the list of rogues who were skilled but "undergeared". Making the distinction gives any would be critics a back door to try to tear them down in more than one way depending on the opportunity to do so. Attack their projection of the underdog. Attack the skill of their opponents. Attack the level of their opponents. Attack their gear. It's all rather silly.

Mind as well post this here since this is the most recent entry.

Sad to see you go Oozo, your ICOBN4 movie was and still is an inspiration to this day (btw, that build was killer for BGs in those days, damn hilarious to disarm warriors then sprint outta their hamstring).
Regarding the rogue community.. well, it's full of sheep, nothing else i can say. Like you, i'll get the hell out of this game when Warhammer comes out.

And about this whole Ming business.. Well, I never liked the guy and i find it hilarious that he proclaims <2100 rating is being a "scrub" when he can't even break 2k on 5s (he'd have to able to maintain a full team first tho').

Well, kudos to you and g'luck with your shadowy adventures, saw the movie, kinda good for a 1st spriest timer.

Hi Oozo, I'm a first time visitor to your blog and I came here pretty much out of all drama from the wow forums that spilled into shadow-gaming and of course WoM. I have to say that for the most part, I agree with a lot of your ideas. Although you can be a little hot headed at times. Whether or not you are a good rogue is irrelevant to me, and I felt that your assetment on Neilyo's video. It was entertaining, but I wouldn't call it the best rogue TBC video made so far. Don't let the trolls get to you as they drag you down to a level you don't want to go to.

Stay respectable and you will earn respect from mature readers who process any sort of common sense. Just keep your standards high and stay humble. You're a smart guy, and I don't want to see Ming or his minions of trolls make you look otherwise. The cease fire was a good call, and I hope you just wipe your hands clean of the whole issue. The most respected mens in history were also some of the most humble.

*Please excuse any grammar/spelling mistakes, I did not proof read.

Gostop, are you refering to me, or Oozo?

The thing about ming is that he has no dignity, he's all about selling. And tough I not agree with most of the stuff either of of you say I must say oozo > ming, casue rogue skill = 0, but your attitude > his^inf.

@Oozo for thinking he intellectually beat everyone to the point where they started acting like chimps:

I suspect the reason why you don't have an arena team is because you don't have the necessary social skills to make at least one friend willing to pair up with you. It's obvious you don't handle negative comments well and resort to calling everyone "fucking idiots", "punk ass bitches" and so many other "intellectually" well thought-out insults. There probably isn't one single person that is willing to be around you with your short-temper and all.

The few people that see your point also recognize that you went to excessive measures to make that point. When respected players like Unsouled and Sev present rational arguments as to why what you did was wrong, you pass it off and ignore it completely. You still can't man up and directly apologize for creating all this drama.

You call people hypocrites and then refer people to Shadow-Gaming.com for a more professional site . . . a site where Happyminti praised Neilyo's video. A little ironic, don't you think?

Then you attack Neilyo's opponents with their armory profiles - an action that you belittled Phyrrho for doing. And I'm sure those people with 3000 lifetime kills are not alts. I mean, they must be scrubs who don't know the first thing about pvp just like this guy: http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/#character-sheet.xml?r=Medivh&n=Iwl (Iwl, Oozo's alt)

I'm starting to think you only hear what you want to hear Oozo. Take a chill pill and enjoy your summer vacation. Maybe work on your people skills a bit more, huh?

Another one that doesn't get it because they don't have the sequence of events straight.

/facepalm

Walter Sobchak: Were you listening to The Dude's story, Donny?

The Dude: Walter...

Donny: What?

Walter Sobchak: Were you listening to The Dude's story?

Donny: I was bowling.

Walter Sobchak: So you have no frame of reference here, Donny. You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie and wants to know...

The Dude: (interrupting) Walter, Walter, what's the point, man?

Walter Sobchak: There's no reason - here's my point, dude, there's no fucking reason why these two...

Donny: Yeah, Walter, what's your point?

As someone who's been a fan of your videos and playstyle, I think you need to totally drop out of this

"argument." There's no need to 'defend' yourself. Anything Ming writes is automatically thought of as bullshit

by the vast majority of the community (especially by players who have been playing a year 1/2 or longer), and

for you to go and engage in a slanging match on his boards...well, it doesn't look great, to be honest.

Personally I think a reserved silence would be 10 times more effective and dignified.

Raggok said...

Torrent,

Yes, I use harsh words but if you actually look at things I'm very consistent. I only use harsh words on those who use such words on me first.

If someone presents an argument that is not filled with vile and direct personal insults then I don't insult them in such a way.

My fault is that I let the trolls drag me down to their level as lorr pointed out.

As far as some of your other criticisms, well you do have "sequence of event" problems, but I'm not going to go through and address them because it would be like opening up the whole can worms again for the 20th time.

The only person who deserves an apology from me is Neilyo, and I have apologized to him many times already in several places. It was unfortunate that I had to go through his movie like that to make my point, which was very valid.

It would have been much better if I had been able to tear someone like Pyrrho's movie apart, but he didn't make one.

Unknown said...

Also, at the end of the day, it was easy enough to tell your dissection of Neilyo's movie wasn't a critique of Neilyo but was a critique of his critics.

It was so obvious. Of course they spun that to say, "how dare you criticize Neilyo," to create a political sideshow that allowed them to avoid really addressing their own very curious praise, in light of other rogue videos that have been released that generated not a peep from them, not to mention the yardstick some used against your videos.

Unfortunately, their technique worked too well against the "children and mentally handicapped" that make up a large portion of the rogue community...or a large portion of the community that participates in the class forums...or most of the community that participates in Ming's blog comments.

"There probably isn't one single person that is willing to be around you with your short-temper and all."

Torrent,

You're right, there's more than one of us...

"And I'm sure those people with 3000 lifetime kills are not alts. I mean, they must be scrubs who don't know the first thing about pvp just like this guy"

So...which is the better display of skill? A video in which a player decked out in gladiator gear kills unsuspecting alts in green and blue equipment in world PVP or...a video in which a player in green and blue equipment kills players decked out in gladiator gear in the battlegrounds.

Torrent said...

Okay, going to drop this since these arguements are going nowhere. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and I can respect your's, Oozo.

As for the comment: So...which is the better display of skill? A video in which a player decked out in gladiator gear kills unsuspecting alts in green and blue equipment in world PVP or...a video in which a player in green and blue equipment kills players decked out in gladiator gear in the battlegrounds.

The latter is the better display of skill, in my opinion. I personally would rather watch Viral's movies, than the WorldofRoguecraft series any day. There is more to pvp than just gear.

And I don't think we will ever know who is the more skilled rogue since Oozo does not have an arena team; for all we know, he could be a 2400 rated rogue and a lot better than Neilyo.

Torrent said...

!@#$@$% I meant the *former* not the latter. I was referencing Neilyo as Viral, and Oozo as Kishkumen from the WorldofRoguecraft series.

Raggok said...

I get your point, Torrent. With Oozo, in particular, my gameplay is very technical.

Have you, by chance, watched Chromed's movies. There I think I'm a bit more freestyle. Daggers has a lot to do with how you play. The burst potential just let's me feel that I'm not all tied up into one person and I'm more free to switch targets and do different things.

Torrent said...

Yeah, I have. Actually, you probably don't remember... but a while back someone thought I was bashing you on shadow-gaming and I responded by saying I enjoyed all of your movies (this was before "The Beast" was released, or right afterwards).

I have an idea of what you're capable of and I'm pretty sure Ming does as well - because of his recent comment of asking you to protect your server or something. I definitely just misjudged the tone of this original post and lost my temper (sorry). No hard feelings ?:)

Raggok said...

I don't hold grudges. Too much wasted energy. :P

But, I expected to take heat and some of my responses weren't exactly, erm... totally mature either. So, nope. No hard feelings.
